Isoflavone recovery process
Fermalogic recovers isoflavones as a by-product of the erythromycin fermentations to increase the profitability of the process.
FERMAFLAVONESTM

Fermaflavones are isoflavones isolated as co-products from soy-based industrial fermentations. Fermalogic recently successfully completed its two year NIH-SBIR funded study to optimize recovery of Fermaflavones from soy-based industrial fermentations, particularly the erythromycin fermentation.

Isoflavones are a class of phytoestrogens that are concentrated in soybeans. Isoflavones are also referred to as nutraceuticals and are currently used in health-foods, as nutritional supplements. The isoflavones genistein and daidzein are also currently being investigated in clinical studies as preventive agents against hormone-dependent cancers such as breast cancer and prostate cancer. They are also being tested as protectants against cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.

Recovery of Fermaflavones as co-products from the erythromycin fermentation can help to boost the profitability of your erythromycin manufacturing process. Theoretically, one large fermentation vessel can generate 5 kg of pure isoflavones per week. Over the course of a year a bank of ten fermentors could produce 2.5 tons of Fermaflavones. A wide spectrum of new markets are still developing for isoflavones that would be suitable targets for Fermaflavones, either pure Fermaflavones or extracts containing a mixture of Fermaflavones.

Your manufacturing process will not have to be modified. The purity of your erythromycin product will not be affected. Your erythromycin recovery process will not have to be changed. Start planning a future where profitable Fermaflavone recovery is a part of your erythromycin manufacturing process.
